Whether you’re stepping onto the dojo floor for the first time or returning to your karate journey, we’re excited to have you join our supportive community.
Becoming a member of North Sydney Dojo is straightforward and ensures you’re connected to the wider karate community through our national and international affiliations.
1. Join Shotokan Karate International Australia (SKIA)
All students training at North Sydney Dojo become members of:
Shotokan Karate International Australia (SKIA)
SKIA is one of Australia’s leading traditional Shotokan karate organisations and is the Australian Branch of Shotokan Karate International Federation (SKIF) in Japan.
Your annual SKIA membership provides:
- Official membership with SKIA
- Access to nationally recognised belt gradings.
- Eligibility to attend SKIA seminars, training camps and special events.
- Opportunities to compete at SKIA tournaments.
- A passbook recording your grading history.
- A uniform (do-gi) Patch
- Connection to an Australia-wide network of SKIA dojos and instructors.
2. Join Karate Australia
As a North Sydney Dojo member, you’ll also register a membership with Karate Australia, the nationally recognised governing body for karate in Australia.
This membership includes:
- Personal accident insurance while participating in approved karate activities.
- Public liability coverage for sanctioned events
- Eligibility to compete in Karate Australia sanctioned competitions.
- Eligibility to participate in Karate Australia sanctioned seminars and training camps
- Recognition within Australia’s national karate framework.
Together, these memberships ensure your training is recognised, insured and connected to the broader karate community.
Family Discount
We encourage families to train together.
A family discount is available on annual SKIA membership fees for eligible family members joining. It’s our way of making karate more accessible while supporting families who choose to train together.
If you’re enrolling multiple family members, please contact us before completing your registration so we can apply the appropriate discount.
