About Us

North Sydney Shotokan Karate (SKIA North Sydney) is a local branch of Shotokan Karate International Australia (SKIA) helping people of all ages discover the life long benefits of training in Shotokan Karate.

Orginally founded in Artarmon in 2014 and known as Artarmon Shotokan (or SKIA Artarmon), the club changed its name to North Sydney Shotokan in January 2019 when the move to North Sydney PCYC became permanent due to the Artarmon hall being closed for hire at the end of 2019.

North Sydney dojo is a family friendly club, made up of dedicated members of varying ages all striving to improve themselves, one day at a time.

Our training is based on the philosophy of SKIF founder Soke Hirokazu Kanazawa, with a focus of harmony in all areas.

Our style of training is often seen as challenging but rewarding to those who persevere, and members build mental and physical resilience which is applied in their life every day.
